SMART GOALS REFLECTION

My Smart goal was to read a whole chapter book series. I achieved this goal and read the whole Wingfeather Saga just before my time limit in July. To achieve this goal I read about a chapter a day and finished this exciting book.  I think that next year my goal will be to read 2 chapter book series.

PUBLIC SPEAKING REFLECTION

REFLECTION

What I liked about my speech: I liked how I projected my voice to the audience and made good eye-contact.

What I could improve on: I think I could improve on my phrasing of my sentences.

What I liked about someone elses: I liked how someone made their speech engaging and fun for the audience.

What advice could I give: I could give the advice; make better eye-contact!

Good job to everyone who did the public speaking; it takes a lot of courage to get up and speak about a topic in front of an audience. Also, thank you to Ms. Cleveland for missing her first period to watch my speech.

Peace Agreement

Hi! Today I will be talking ’bout Laban and Jacobs AGREEMENT! In class, we talked about how they agreed next to a pile of rocks. But what were they agreeing on?

My guess is that they agreed that Jacob could go back, and they wouldn’t fight or hurt each other.

Geometry

Hi everybody, today I will be telling you about geometry.

Geometry is the study of shapes. Squares, Circles, Rhobuses. But what is it used for? Google says that geometry is used in architecture, interior design, and construction for stable and visually appealing structures. Well, that’s all for today. Thanks for reading!

Innovation Day Reflection

The Problem

Our problem was that there is so much heat on the pavement that people get some of the most severe injuries. So we had the idea that we could harness that power to create energy using a fan, and the heat from the pavement.

Hypothesis

We thought that the pavement could be used to create energy. We created a fan to prove that it will create energy.

Materials

The materials we used to create our diorama were pie tins, pencils, sticky tack, candles, and YouTube videos for inspiration. For our board, we added hand-drawn pictures, ribbons, minions, and LED lights. We also used a lighter to light the candles, and we used black candles to mimic pavement.

Procedure

To start we tried making the fan out of tinfoil, but the blades drooped. We ditched that idea and made it out of pie tins that were thicker, so that the blades wouldn’t droop so much. That worked really well, although we had to play with the angles that the blades were positioned in. After we found an angle that we liked, we decided to decorate it. My partner decided to name the fan “Judy” so we wrote her name on all the blades along with cool designs. The day of the presentation, Judy decided she didn’t want to stay up. Our fan fell so much that it had black scorch marks afterward. The fan spun really well, though, after we tinkered with it. Lots of parents and students loved it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I loved this project and look forward to doing it again next year.
